Your child will flourish in this engaging class! The creative environment sparks their imagination, providing the perfect setting for growth and self-expression. Dancers will explore a variety of dance styles, with a strong emphasis on Ballet, while discovering the styles that resonate with their unique personalities. This class fosters the development of social skills, spatial awareness, balance, rhythm, musical appreciation, and gross motor skills, along with an introduction to basic ballet techniques and dance class etiquette.

Please note: Dancers in this class must be potty trained.

Creative Movement

Ballet is widely regarded as the foundation of nearly all dance styles. It provides essential technical training, emphasizing key elements such as turnout, balance, strength, and flexibility. Ballet offers a unique challenge that fosters focus and discipline. In class, students will regularly practice barre exercises to develop their ballet technique, including proper foot, arm, and head positions. They will learn a variety of jumps and turns, work on improving strength, turnout, extensions, and posture, and cultivate a style of movement that requires grace, poise, energy, and musicality.

Please note: Dancers wishing to participate in Pointe classes must receive teacher approval.

Ballet

Contemporary dance blends movement, vocabulary, and techniques from various styles, including Ballet and Hip Hop. It explores unique ways to use the body while developing musicality, with a special emphasis on emotion and storytelling. In Contemporary, students can expect to work on technique and essential dance elements such as turnout, balance, and strength. They will learn a variety of jumps and turns, explore emotional expression through dance, and develop performance skills. Students will also engage in combinations that highlight how dance can convey stories and emotions, and have the opportunity to collaborate through fun and challenging group and partner work.

Contemporary

Jazz is an excellent choice for students who want to develop the technical skills found in Ballet, but in a more dynamic and energetic environment. In this class, students will focus on building technical abilities while emphasizing style and performance. They’ll work on improving flexibility, balance, and other essential dance elements, while learning a variety of jumps and turns. Jazz students will also explore different styles, including Musical Theatre Jazz, Jazz Funk, Contemporary Jazz, and more. Jazz class not only enhances technical skills but also encourages creativity, helping students express themselves through movement, all while building their stage presence and performance abilities.

Jazz

Modern dance blends elements from both Ballet and Jazz, offering a unique approach that emphasizes the body’s ability to create shapes, the connection between dancers, and the integration of breath to foster fluidity and power in movement. In Modern, students will learn to tell stories through a variety of shapes and movement styles, developing their ability to perform dynamic floor work with control and precision. They will explore using all parts of the body to create different pictures and effectively use space while dancing. Additionally, students will work on mastering a range of jumps and turns, all while focusing on the expressive, emotional aspect of movement that defines Modern dance.

Modern

Acro dance is a dynamic fusion of classical dance technique and acrobatic elements, incorporating aspects of gymnastics, contortion, and aerial movement. This class focuses on developing strength, balance, and coordination, teaching students to control their body’s weight distribution while performing acrobatic feats. Through a carefully structured progression training system, students will gradually build flexibility, improve core strength, and master a variety of acrobatic skills such as handstands, backbends, and tumbling. The class combines the artistry of dance with the precision and power of acrobatics, allowing students to not only refine their technique but also to enhance their overall performance abilities. Acro dance fosters body awareness and encourages students to push their limits, all while ensuring safety and technique are at the forefront of every movement.

Acro

Tap dance blends the artistry of movement with the rhythmic power of sound, using the metal taps on tap shoes to create percussive beats. As we reintroduce tap to the studio through our beginner tap classes, the focus will be on introducing and developing fundamental tap techniques, as well as cultivating an understanding of music and sound, including the use of various time signatures. Students will learn classic, universal tap exercises and choreography, gaining a strong foundation in both the technical and musical aspects of the art form. This class offers a fun and dynamic way for students to connect rhythm, movement, and performance, while developing their sense of timing and musicality.

Tap

Hip Hop is a dynamic dance style centered around performance, community, and self-expression. Originating in the streets of New York City in the 1970s, Hip Hop was born from a desire to make dance accessible to all, combining elements of social dance, breakdancing, and street culture. The style is known for its high energy, fun atmosphere, and challenging movements. In Hip Hop, students will develop their technique through a variety of exercises and warm-ups, learn intricate choreography, and master footwork, floor work, and isolations. Additionally, students will explore different styles of Hip Hop movement and dive into current dance trends and their cultural origins, gaining a deeper understanding of the style’s rich history and influence on modern dance.

Hip Hop

Musical Theatre blends technical dance with theatrical performance to create fun, energetic, and entertaining routines. In this class, students will learn iconic songs from classic musicals while honing their skills in both dance and performance. They will explore the use of facial expressions and body language to enhance their storytelling, mastering the ability to confidently perform challenging choreography while simultaneously acting and lip-synching. Students will also learn how to interact with props and stage sets, bringing a narrative to life through movement and expression. This class encourages creativity, performance skills, and the joy of combining dance and theatre in a dynamic, engaging way.

Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion.
